I love Damask. The word derives from the city of Damascus. For those of you that don't know what Damask fabric is it's silk, wool, velvet, linen, cotton, or synthetic fibers, with a pattern formed by weaving. It is absolutely gorgeous.
My biggest peeve with fabric is that people cut it. Why cut it? Instead dream in it. Dream of indulging yourself within the art, the patterns, the textures and best of the width and the length. Of all my shopping habits, I've always had this addiction to buying yards of detailed fabric. I swear I have no idea what I want to do with it all. At first I wanted to make purse's, handbag's and fun little make up kits. Then I started thinking I'll make pillows, throw pillows of every shape and random sizes. Until one day I made this beautiful frame out of one of the fabric pieces I own. I was thrilled to see what it looked like on my wall. This large piece of uncut damask spread inside a copper molded custom frame. All I could say is Stunning.
So I decided I will be making custom frames with my fabric yards that I've collected and one day I will have a shop or I will have enough made that I can sell them through art festivals and home shows.
Hope you enjoy them.
